G-star ends jeans contract with Indian firm
G-Star said in a statement that despite its best efforts, it is unable to conduct a constructive dialogue between labour rights campaigners and FFI.
Earlier Indian newspaper the Economic Times reported that G-star is pressuring FFI to drop its defamation case against a Dutch labour rights NGO.
The paper says G-Star requested FFI to settle its case against the Clean Clothes Campaign and India Committee of the Netherlands out of court because of the bad publicity it was generating.
The organisations launched a campaign against FFI and its subsidiary Jeans Knit in 2005 alleging poor working conditions.
On Sunday, an Indian court issued arrest warrants for eight Dutch nationals in connection with the FFI case.
